Thanks for contributing to a fantastic inaugural HPCDB workshop. The attendance was great (60+ people), the discussion was lively, and the plan forward was clear.

Visualizing the HPCDB Program
This word cloud was created from the text of all nine papers in the HPCDB program. MotivationInformed by the SC2011 theme of data-intensive computing, we propose to bring together researchers in the databases/data management community (exemplified by venues such as SIGMOD, VLDB, and ICDE) and the high performance computing community to identify opportunities for collaboration and set new research directions. Call for PapersThe high-performance computing (HPC) community is facing significant data challenges: the performance of simulations on evolving leadership class computing architectures are increasingly dominated by the costs of data access, movement, transformation and analysis on the HPC system. These problems are expected to only get worse as we move towards exascale computing.
