The workshop on High Performance Computing meets Databases was organized by the UW eScience Institute in a partnership with the Pacific Northwest National Lab in response to the observation that HPC research is becoming more data-intensive and database research increasingly emphasizes statistical analytics and other "compute-intensive" applications.
